FAQ - General

At what stage of development is the product?

Production tooling is ready for manufacture and the magnetic light fitting is in the final stages of testing and certification.

Why do I need this product? The current fittings have been available for over one hundred years!

Businesses can reduce maintenance costs by two thirds due to quicker bulb change. Also reduced ladder use improves health and safety due to work at height regulation compliance.

Users at home can benefit too as the magnetic fitting makes changing a bulb easier, safer and more accessible to all.

So who is this product aimed at?

86% of those questioned state that changing a light bulb is awkward. For this reason the magnetic light fitting will make life easier for everyone.  The fitting particularly benefits those with hard to reach light fittings, such as chandeliers, and those with limited mobility or dexterity.

Will this work with traditional light bulbs or only energy saving ones?

The magnetic light fitting can be used with the traditional tungsten filament incandescent bulbs as well as modern low-energy compact fluorescent lamps.

How many will the average person buy in their life? Will I take them with me when I move house?

The fittings will last a lifetime and it would be perfectly reasonable to take fittings with you. The magnetic fitting will simply unclip leaving behind the standard fitting in perfect working order. Just make sure that the area you move to uses the same kind of fittings!

Are you also known as MCC? What other magnetic connections does the Magnetic Connection Company produce?

The Magnetic Connection Company is also referred to as MCC. We have big plans for other products but have chosen to concentrate on launching the magnetic light fittings.

Do Hospitals, Prisons and Schools use them?

MCC is interested in trialling the product as soon as possible. Facilities such as these would be ideal to demonstrate the fittings benefits.

How many Pet Shop Boys does it take to change a magnetic light bulb?

Thanks for submitting this question! Since you ask...two, one to change the light bulb and one to stand around looking ironic!...Perhaps we should have a light bulb jokes page.

Have I seen you advertised on TV and in Magazines?

The product was featured on BBC's Dragons' Den in December 2007. See our report on the experience here. The original concept was featured in Eureka Magazine and the Evening Standard (London, UK) in 2005.

How old do I need to be to use your product?

Safety is very important to MCC so I will need to look at safety regulations to give an accurate answer. Bear with me.
